The gallery traces its origins to a lampshade and lamp store founded by his mother, Josephine Vallin Rosenberg, on Tenth Street in New York’s Greenwich Village. She gained early recognition for transforming antique Chinese porcelain vases into elegant lamps.As Josephine's interest in Asian art deepened, she established Vallin Galleries in Wilton, Connecticut, in 1951. Peter, along with his wife and business partner Louise Rosenberg, expanded the gallery into a trusted source of Chinese, Japanese, and other Asian works of art for major museums, collectors, and dealers.
